Dear parents,

We are creating an outdoor play area for our children. This area will be situated to the left hand side of our building, behind the billboards. We are going to place sliding patio doors in the tweenie room to allow access to this new area. This means that our new area will be fully enclosed and secure for the children to play in and only accessible through the nursery.

We are going to be having a variety of fundraising activities to help contribute towards the cost, including a fun day during the summer!

We first have to clear the area, including cutting down existing trees, hire builders to put in the new patio doors, and them get some decking put in place. This is all before we even consider buying new outdoor equipment for the children to play with. As you can imagine, these costs soon mount up, so we are therefore going to have a fundraising day to help contribute towards the costs.

The children in the biggies room will be making a wishing well, in which parents can throw in their spare change, and make a wish of course.

We are also appealing to local business for any donations which will help with our fundraising day. Whether that be donating goods, money or services, anything offered is greatly appreciated. So if any of you think your work or organisation may be able to help, please let us know!

The outdoor area will benefit the children greatly. Getting outside to play can sometimes be tricky, as we have to take into consideration staff to child ratio and also, as you can imagine, we cannot go too far in case a little one needs the toilet. Having this area adjacent to our building would eradicate all of these problems, and ensure that our children can get outside to play every day.

In the outdoor area, we are hoping to create a planting area with herbs, flowers and vegetables to teach the children about various environmental issues. We will also have bird boxes to help with the encouragement of nature and we are also hoping to invest in two pets: a rabbit and a guinea pig. This will help the children to understand now to care for and look after
The more money we raise, the more equipment we can buy, and the more fun and educational the area will be for the children.
