Welcome to Growing Places Nursery in Gourock

Growing Places Nursery welcomes children from 6 weeks to school age. We are in Partnership with the Local council. Our capacity is 24 children per day.

The nursery is situated just off Shore Street Gourock, offering easy access to public transport, e.g. bus, ferry, and train. Collecting and dropping off by car is also favourable.

Both indoor and outdoor play will be encouraged, as through this your child will be able to develop in all aspects of their lives.

Swine Flu Advice PDF Print E-mail
ADVICE TO HEADTEACHERS REGARDING INFLUENZA A (H1N1)

You will be aware that Ravenscraig Primary School and Ladybird Nursery School have been closed as a precaution because two pupils have been diagnosed as “probable” cases of so-called “Swine Flu”.

A number of issues are arising out of these incidents and this briefing aims to answer the main questions currently being posed and pointing you in the right direction for further advice.
What has happened so far?
A five year old boy in Primary 1 at Ravenscraig Primary School has been classed as a “probable case of Swine Flu. This boy and his mother have links to the 19-year old man diagnosed as a confirmed case last week. Purely as a precaution, and acting on the advice of the NHS, Inverclyde Council closed Ravenscraig primary School last night for seven days. All Primary 1 pupils have been issued with the anti viral drug Tamiflu along with the class teachers. No other pupil or teacher or auxiliary staff member is required to take Tamiflu but the school has been closed as a precaution.
Tamiflu is only offered to those who have had close contact with the pupil in question.

At Ladybird Nursery School, which is a privately run facility, a three year old boy has also been diagnosed as a “probable” case. The older children and staff who have had close contact with the youngster will be offered Tamiflu. The nursery has also been closed. There is no impact on adjoining Earnhill Primary School.

What is happening to staff?
All employees at Ravenscraig have been asked to stay at home just now and that situation is being reviewed on a daily basis as to when they can return. All advice is being taken from the NHS in this respect.

What about siblings or friends at other schools?
Siblings or friends/neighbours of pupils at Ravenscraig and Ladybird should continue to attend their schools as normal.

Where can I get further advice?
Inverclyde Council is working closely with Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS on this issue. Anybody with a query regarding steps to take should , in the first instance, take advice from NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24.
