rednoseday at gourock nurseryDear Parent / Carer,

This year, the staff and kids at Growing Places have decided to raise money for comic relief. This year the theme is DO SOMEHING FUNNY FOR MONEY! You may have noticed our window display, and can see that the kids have already been putting on their funny faces!

When
This year, Red Nose Day is on FRIDAY 13th MARCH 2009!!!  As some of our kids do not attend on a Friday, we have decided to have a week of fun, beginning on Monday 9th March.

What We Are Doing
We have decided to do a range of fun activities throughout the week including:

• Bake Sale
• Designing and Making our Own T-Shirts
• Selling our GROWING PLACES FUNNY QUOTE BOOK!
• Red Nose Day Picture Place Mats – On Sale for £2! Great Nursery Keep Sake!

Red Noses Will Also Be On Sale Within the Nursery priced at £1.50!

All of this fun is leading up to the big day on Friday 13th March, when staff and kids will be sponsored for wearing their pyjamas to nursery! Also featuring our special guest – Pretty Polly the Clown!!!

Pretty Polly’s appearance is our way of saying Thank you to the children for their hard work and dedication. Pretty Polly will be doing some magic tricks, party games with prizes, balloon modelling and much, much more!

The kids have also made a money bin called Lenny. Lenny likes to eat your spare change, and he is a very hungry little bin. So please feel free to feed Lenny!!!!

Why We Are Doing This
Not only is this a great activity for the children that will hopefully raise a lot of money for charity, it is also greatly benefiting their education in the following ways. It fits in with the Curriculum for Excellence Framework under the headings by assisting the children in learning to become Effective Contributors as well as becoming Responsible Citizens. It achieves this is the following ways:

Effective Contributors:
Developing an enterprising attitude
Developing their own views and beliefs of the world
Working in partnership and in teams

Responsible Citizens:
Learning about diversity
Learning to respect others
Learning to make informed choices and decisions
Developing a commitment to participate in economic, social, cultural and political life
Developing knowledge and understanding of the world, and Scotland’s place in it

So as you can see, by partaking in this event, not only are the charities benefiting, but it is also of great benefit to the learning and development of the children.

Also, the kids in the Biggies room have made a special money bin called Lenny. Lenny likes to eat your spare change, and he is a very hungry little bin. So please feel free to feed Lenny!
So come on, dig deep. Remember
EVERY PENNY COUNTS!
Thank you very much for all your support from
All the staff and kids at Growing Places

thanks from the children
