Welcome to Growing Places Nursery in Gourock

Growing Places Nursery welcomes children from 6 weeks to school age. We are in Partnership with the Local council. Our capacity is 24 children per day.

The nursery is situated just off Shore Street Gourock, offering easy access to public transport, e.g. bus, ferry, and train. Collecting and dropping off by car is also favourable.

Both indoor and outdoor play will be encouraged, as through this your child will be able to develop in all aspects of their lives.

We will be having a visit from Zoo Lab in September this year date and time to follow. This visit will entail the showing and handling of live animals and all of the children will get the opportunity to handle some of the animals themselves.

There will be a range of animals depending on the topic chosen ours is Caring for Living things.

Zoo Lab UK

Although we encourage all of the children to join in with the activities it is important to note that no child is ever forced to handle animals that they don’t want to.

Growing Places Nursery and Zoo Lab take Health and Safety very seriously and you can rest assured that all of the animals handled by your children are totally safe and unable to cause any harm. We also have a strict hand washing policy that we enforce at the end of every session.

We are sure that your child will enjoy this experience and hope that it will stimulate a future interest in animals and related environmental topics.

Some of the Learning Outcomes from this topic
  • Sort living things into broad groups to easily observable characteristics.
  • Give some of the more obvious distinguishing features of the major invertebrate groups.
  • Name some common members of the invertebrate groups.

Children will also learn about caring for living things as they handle and look at live animals.
